વીરતાની પુનઃ દેવપરીક્ષા, દૈત્યદમન અને `મહાવીર' નામ સ્થાપન

We had started with Jainism Pic & Post series & have posted around 12 snaps till now about incidents in Life of our Lord Mahavir. Moving in the same direction, we are again continuing & moving forward in the said story.

As Dev's couldnt win with child Mahavir, as already stated in prior post (આમલકી ક્રીડા), they again went to test kid vardhman & hence disguised as a Kid. It was decided that one who losses shall have to make winner sit on his shoulders. That Dev in disguise of Kid, lost by plan & asks kid vardhman to sit on his shoulder & as he sits, the dev takes a giant form & scares all. But kid vardhman doesnt get feared & gives a hard bang on the shoulder of that dev. Dev gets terrible pain & immediately releases kid vardhman & asks apology. Now he had no doubt that the Kid would be future LORD.
As kid Vardhman wins over in such tests, there happens to be a great celebration in Devlok amidst which God Indra keeps name of God as MAHAVIR.

પ્રથમ પરીક્ષામાં (આમલકી ક્રીડા) દેવ નિષ્ફળ ગયો, એટલે તેણે બીજો દાવ અજમાવ્યો. તે અન્ય બાળકના જેવું રૂપ લઈ દોડી આવીને બાળકોમાં ઘૂસી ગયો. પછી નવી રમત રમવાનું નક્કી કર્યું, પણ બનાવટી બાળકે કહ્યું કે "કંઈક શરત રાખો તો રમતમાં જોશ આવે." આથી `હારેલો વિજેતાને ખભે બેસાડી ફેરવે' એવી શરત નક્કી કરાઈ. પેલો બાળક બની ગએલો દેવ જાણીને જ હારી ગયો, એટલે વિજેતા વર્ધમાનને કહે `લો ચાલો, બેસી જાવ મારા ખભે.' વર્ધમાનકુમાર ખભે બેઠા. પરીક્ષાની તક ઊભી થઈ ગઈ. દેવે કાયાની માયા વધારતાં વિકરાળ-ભયંકર રાક્ષસનું રૂપ ધારણ કર્યું. તે કૂદતો જાય અને સાથે શરીરને વધારતો જાય. જોતજોતામાં દૈવિક શક્તિથી શરીરને ડુંગર જેવડું કર્યું. એ જ પળે વર્ધમાનકુમારે અવધિજ્ઞાનથી જોયું કે આ છે શું? ત્યારે જણાયું કે આ તો પોતાને ડરાવવા આવેલા દેવની દેવમાયા છે, એટલે જરા પણ ગભરાટ અનુભવ્યા વિના એને બોધપાઠ આપવા, વજ્ર જેવી કઠિન મુઠ્ઠી જોરથી એ દેવના ખભા પર મારી, એની વેદના તેને અસહ્ય થઈ પડી. સંશય નષ્ટ થયો. દેવેન્દ્રનાં વચનોનો યથાર્થ સાક્ષાત્કાર થતાં તેણે મૂળ સ્વરૂપ પ્રગટ કર્યું અને ભગવાનને નમી, ક્ષમા માગી એ સ્વસ્થાને ગયો.

વર્ધમાન પરીક્ષામાં વિજયી બન્યા. દેવલોકમાં જયજયકાર ગવાયો, અને તે જ વખતે હજારો દેવોની સભા વચ્ચે, ભારે હર્ષનાદો સાથે ઇન્દ્રે શ્રી વર્ધમાનનું બીજું `મહાવીર' એવું ગુણનિષ્પન્ન નામ જાહેર કર્યું. ભગવાન આ જ નામથી વિશ્વવિખ્યાત બન્યા.
